The Pig Iron Theatre Company Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Jasmine Jiang as its Managing Director. In this role, Jasmine will lead Pig Iron alongside Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors, Quinn Bauriedel and Dan Rothenberg. She will serve as the financial, strategic and operational leader for the organization, balancing the needs of both the Pig Iron School, creative programming, and leading the company’s administrative staff.

“Jasmine is joining Pig Iron at a pivotal moment in the organization’s journey, in Philadelphia’s cultural renaissance, and in the field of performance as a whole. With new collaborators from the world of film and digital media on the horizon, and new ideas about how our community of devisors can engage new audiences, Jasmine will lead us toward the next chapter of Pig Iron’s work as innovators and creators,” notes Dan Rothenberg. Quinn Bauriedel adds, “Jasmine’s demonstrated leadership in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is particularly exciting for us at Pig Iron. As we undergo an audit of our cultural practices and aim to build an EDI focus into our existing structures and new programs, Jasmine’s work will be critical to our role in addressing inequities in the arts.”

Jasmine most recently served as Associate Managing Director of Round House Theatre in Bethesda, MD, where she led equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility (EDIA) initiatives, programmed community engagement and partnership activities and restarted the organization’s food and beverage program post-pandemic. Jasmine began her tenure at Round House as Public Relations and Partnerships Manager, and has previously worked at the Kennedy Center and as an independent arts consultant. She is also an artEquity-trained facilitator, a longform improviser, and a graduate of American University’s Master’s program in Arts Management.

“At this moment when live theatre faces immense changes and challenges, I’m thrilled to join an artistic institution like Pig Iron, which has both a celebrated past and bright future,” Jasmine Jiang said in a statement. “Pig Iron has built an impressively vibrant, vital, and forward-thinking community of artists. I look forward to building on that world-class work while implementing systems that support a healthy working culture, sustainable change, and an ever-increasing commitment to social justice.”

Pig Iron Theatre Company is an incubator and producer of experimental performance work and also runs a 2.5-year MFA program in devised theater, in partnership with University of the Arts. Jasmine arrives at an exciting time for the organization, which recently celebrated 25 years. She will help lead Pig Iron’s next chapter, including the company’s expansion into the digital, film, and interactive space, helmed by Vanessa Ogbuehi, Director of the DFI Initiative.
