Hey…what has your heart been through?

Join us at Pig Iron Theatre Company for a portrait session and interview where stories of queer love and loss are treasures to unpack. Pig Iron, in collaboration with artist Aubrié Costello (creator of THE EROTIC PROJECT), invites you to step into a safe space to share your feelings. We’ll honor and chronicle your personal stories of queer life, dreams, and heartbreak. Share to your comfort level on camera and then have a portrait taken on film.

Dito van Reigersberg (aka Martha Graham Cracker) and Aubrié Costello will ask you questions and listen with empathetic ears. As your words flow, videographer Rosie Simmons and photographer Gabriel Rosario will immortalize these moments on video and film. You do not need to be bold or extraordinary to have a story to tell. Your unique perspective on love and heartache as a member of the queer community will be archived and integrated into a poignant public art installation at the Wilma Theater during the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, part of Pig Iron’s forthcoming theatrical production, Poor Judge.

Poor Judge is the brainchild of Pig Iron founder Dito van Reigersberg, and the piece is constructed around a live mixtape of songs by singer/songwriter, visionary, musical poet and indie queen Aimee Mann. The show and installation will explore themes of queer love, angst, heartbreak, lost dreams, and triumphs, encapsulating the full nuanced spectrum of the queer experience.

After the show’s closing, Aubrié Costello will weave your queer stories and portraits into a thoughtfully designed zine, a testament to the vibrant tapestry of queerness. Your voice matters and, in this safe haven, it will be heard, archived, and celebrated!  We invite all ages to participate and contribute to this collective narrative.

We invite all ages to participate and contribute to this collective narrative. We will have $10 SEPTA cards available for anyone under 21 who is able to make it.

Some examples of questions you might be asked are: What song do you go to when you’re going through a rough patch/breakup/terrible day? Have you ever been in love?  Once or many times? Have you ever had a breakup? What did you learn?  What do you still wonder about love that you don’t know the answer to?

Click the link to sign up for a 20 minute time slot for your interview. You’ll be asked 2-3 questions while being recorded to spark dialogue/conversation. RSVP required as only 12 total people can participate in the interview event. ADA accessible. Masks suggested upon entry and removed for interview and portrait. Contact [email protected] with any questions.

Don’t miss this chance for catharsis and connection—join us to divulge past joys, awkward mistakes, and real triumphs.
