"This is a time of impossible problems...And yet, with impossible problems come innovations, artistic shape-shifting, and new pathways toward performance creation."
Pig Iron School and Rowan University unite
Pig Iron Theatre Company and Rowan University’s College of Performing Arts excitedly announce that they are partnering to establish a Master of Fine Arts and graduate certificate in Devised Performance. Beginning in early 2025, the Pig Iron School will continue its mission to train the next generation of daring, innovative theater artists, in partnership with Rowan, through an accredited master’s program centered on movement, improvisation, and ensemble creation.
Workshops across the nation
The Pig Iron School is going on a roadshow around the United States in the coming months. These free workshops will introduce emerging performing artists to the pedagogy and artistic sparks that are central to the devising practices of our 29 year old company and 13 year old graduate school. Through a weekend of hands on exercises, participants will discover new devising and physical theatre tools that will sharpen their performances and add depth to their original works.
Fall Forward
In the wake of UArts’ closure and the difficult decision to pause the Pig Iron School’s graduate program this fall, we are keeping our community moving with a Fall workshop series. From August to December, beloved faculty and exceptional guest artists will lead masterclasses, training intensives, and skill-building workshops in the Pig Iron Studios for participants with a wide range of performance interests and experience levels.
