All info Sessions will be on Zoom.

Pig Iron School would love to invite you to join an Information Session about the Pig Iron/Rowan Devised Performance Program. These sessions will provide a deeper dive into the nature of the program, what to expect day by day, week by week, and what alumni do, generally, upon graduating. It will also allow you to learn about the unique nature of the partnership between Rowan and Pig Iron as well as information about the theatre company which was called “one of the few groups successfully taking theater in new directions” by The New York Times. Bring your questions, too, as there will be time to talk through the application process for prospective MFA students.

AUDITIONS

Auditions are offered virtually over Zoom and in person at the Pig Iron Studios.

The audition is one part of the application process for the MFA and Certificate Programs in Devised Performance, a partnership between Rowan University and Pig Iron Theatre Company. The auditions are conducted in a collaborative, workshop-style environment so we can get to know you as a performer and theatre-maker. There will be three components to the audition: movement, improvisation, creation. There is nothing to prepare in advance, but do come prepared to move and to work with others. Prospective students interested in joining the program in Spring or Fall 2025 are invited to audition.

The Devised Performance Program seeks emerging theatre artists for a rigorous, graduate training as actors and theatre-makers.  Applicants, through the admissions process, should demonstrate their readiness for the demands of this world-class training as well as their ability to collaborate, to play, to transform, to grow from feedback, and to say infinitely curious about the world around them. Successful candidates for the program should have amassed relevant experience prior to entry, which could include performing, directing and/or developing university productions, working as an actor and/or theatre-maker within a professional capacity, fusing different artistic mediums within your own devised works, touring, curating, writing about the field, assisting within the professional world, teaching theatre, writing plays, musicals, operas, and composing works in non-traditional spaces.
