MAKING MISCHIEF, MAYHEM & MADCAPPERY: hoaxes, hijinks, & hullaballoo – hooray!
an advanced clowning workshop with Pig Iron School Director Quinn Bauriedel
Explore theatrical surprises, jolts of consciousness, and thwarted expectations! Influenced by artists from the past who innovated, who dared to go beyond the status quo, and who playfully questioned the norms of society, this Advanced Clown intensive will leave behind the red nose and instead dive into currents of absurdity and practices of wild ideation. Participants will stretch their performance muscles and jostle one another while devising new works that leave audiences gasping for air, peeing in their seats*, and saying “I didn’t know you could do that!” The workshop culminates in an open showing of short studies of clown illogic and idiot life lessons.
*speaking metaphorically, here
This workshop is open to actors, comics, and devisors - students and professionals are both welcome. While you should have some comic performance practice, previous experience in clowning is not required.
